Our consultancy is committed to researching & producing vibrant natural dye colours that meet the highest possible environmental certification and supports regenerative practices.
We utilise our knowledge and expertise to design and create luxurious textiles, as well as provide guidance and mentorship to the fashion industry.
We work with clients to develop bespoke sustainable natural dye colours suitable for fashion or interiors.
We also actively participate in academic and thought leadership projects to help shift attitudes and practices, as well as lead masterclasses for the benefit of industry and academic audiences.

ao textiles is a project-based research & design consultancy founded by Karen Spurgin, Penny Walsh and Emma D'Arcey.
With our combined experience as colourists and surface designers, we specialise in developing natural dyes for textiles in commercial production; our sustainable plant-based colour process is unique proposition in the industry.
Over the last 15 years, we have been at the forefront of research and development of natural dyes, with our focus on creating a dye palette that works in conjunction with industry. These techniques have been developed to the highest environmental standards possible, ensuring that they are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
