eccomi 4: Dress research

Korean national costume at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

The  concept for the eccomi dress has a very particular sculptural construction in mind.  The design will need to best display our textiles.

Research and development play a crucial part in all our work.

During a visit to V&A archive we were able to explore the cut, finishing and design details of a selection of Balanciaga garments, always a great place to begin.

Our research has also taken us to Paris. The Korea Now show at Les Arts Décoratifs filled us with endless inspiration.  We loved the fullness of fabric on the Korean national costume and the simplicity of the shapes.  Even the decorative elements in the cross design disciplines, ceramics and graphics provided thought and discussion.

A trip to the 'Lady and the Unicorn' tapestries (16th century) at the Cluny Museum in Paris also provided a reminder of the vibrant and long lasting possibilities of natural dyes.
