Finally our natural dyes in production!
ao's many years of research has reached the point where it has been possible to take our natural dye expertise into a new stage. The idea of creating naturally dyed yarn for production may seem a simple concept but the reality has been much more complicated than we imagined.
As much as we planned and calculated, we were unsure that dye uptake would actually work, it was a risk.
Modern commercial dye equipment is designed for chemical dyes and involves a very different methodology. We have had to assess how to fuse 21st century production methods with techniques dating back to pre 1856, before the invention of the first aniline dye.
We were thrilled to say that it did work and Emma was able to capture Penny's elation on camera!
