eccomi 10: Eco printing

Ferns printed on ao textiles bespoke taffeta fabric and over dyed with natural colour.

Eco printing is a relatively new textile technique whereby plants are directly imprinted onto fabric either by steaming or pressing. The process lends itself perfectly to ao textiles eccomi dress project. The images show varieties of fern that Emma has printed onto our naturally dyed fabric. The plant material was foraged from London's East End canals, gardens and Oxleas Wood.  The textile will be used to create a long sash for eccomi and the final dress showcased at the 'Circular Transition Conference at Chelsea College of Arts & Tate Britain on the 23rd and 24th of November.'  http://www.tfrc.org.uk/circular-transitions-conference/
